Welcome to SwissNGM!

We founded SwissNGM to foster research and information for health professionals and patients interested in neurogastroenterology and motility in Switzerland.

Patients with abdominal symptoms of unexplained origin visit doctors, nutritionists and psychologists every day. They present a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge, which in many cases requires a multi-disciplinary approach to reach true patients satisfaction.

Why SwissNGM?

Because we are passionate about patient care, education and research

More than in most other disease states patient education and patient understanding is key to a successful treatment of disorders related to disturbances in intestinal motility, brain-gut interactivity, the microbiome and visceral sensitivity. Research in this area is of growing interest, yet has suffered from heterogeneity in trials, small patient numbers and poor standardization of procedures. We aim to bring together people from centers dedicated to neurogastroenterology and motiliy, exchange research ideas and transfer knowledge. If you want to become a member of SwissNGM, please send us an email and we will get back to you or apply right now.

Meetings and Symposia related to functional bowel disease

We are an interest group of medical professionals and scientists dealing with motility disorders, functional bowel disease, brain-gut interaction, nutrition and the intestinal microbiome. We strive for excellence in patient care, education and scientific conduct and wish to collaborate to bring pathophysiology, diagnostics and therapeutics to the next level.

SwissNGM is the national subsidiary of IBSnet in Switzerland, which was founded in 2014.

SwissNGM was established in order to foster neurogastroenterology and motility related research and education on a national level. We plan to be the Swiss representation of the European Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (ESNM). We envision a Swiss cohort that will help better understand and treat disorders related to neurogastroenterology and motility in Switzerland.
